The photo of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle taken on March 5 before the start of the Endeavor Fund Awards charity event amazed the whole world. This shot of the royal couple is more reminiscent of a frame from a romantic melodrama than a simple photo taken by the paparazzi - sparkling raindrops, flashlights in the background and two lovers looking at each other with a smile and tenderness.
After the publication of this shot and the excitement that arose around it, the royal photographer Samir Hussain, who has been photographing members of the royal family for twelve years now, decided to share the background of the photo.
Hussein said that he learned from the press service of Prince Harry and his wife when the royal couple would arrive at the event. Samir arrived early and chose a good place for the photo, but the pouring rain that hit the capital of the United Kingdom that day could ruin all his plans.
“It was raining, and I began to understand that I was unlikely to get a good shot. In addition, I understood that Prince Harry and Meghan would be under an umbrella, which made my task even more difficult."
As the royal couple got out of the car, Hussein noticed a series of camera flashes behind the backs of the Dukes of Sussex. “I thought that if I could get it right and capture the moment, the flashes could work like a professional light behind them. But I only had a few seconds to capture them exactly the way I wanted,”says Hussein.
He took a series of images and immediately downloaded them to his laptop to see the result. Holding his breath, the photographer opened a folder with files and the first image was the same romantic photograph of Harry and Megan. “I saw this picture and I just couldn't believe it. I zoomed in to make sure the shot was sharp and realized that this photo was really special,”the photographer shared.
After the snapshot hit the net, it instantly became popular. Fans of the couple admired the romance that Hussein was able to capture with the lens of his camera, and the photographer himself noted that in all twelve years of working with BCS members, for the first time he felt that he had managed to do something significant and special.
