Beyose is one of Topshop's most celebrated shoppers, and today she surprised her fans by announcing an unusual collaboration with the British brand: the singer, together with Topshop owner Philip Green, are creating a new company that will represent sports streetwear. While the brand, upon signing the contract, was named Parkwood Topshop Athletic Ltd.
“This is not a collaboration. This is building a new brand and a new business with separate documentation and an office,”said Philip Green. He also added that the company's shares will be split 50/50 between Topshop and Beyoncé.
The owner of the British brand told how this idea came to them: last February Philip Green and Beyoncé met in London and decided that they should do something together. “It was at this time that we were looking for the sports sector. This is what we needed. Based on what Beyoncé does, how she works, the conversation turned in this direction,”said Philip Green. She and Beyoncé held talks in May and June and agreed on how the brand would work, it took about six or eight weeks to finalize the deal, and last Friday Beyoncé signed her contract.
“I have always loved Topshop for its style and progressive thinking,” added the singer to her partner. She has been spotted by the paparazzi in the brand's clothes more than once while on vacation. And this spring, Beyoncé performed at the Coachell festival in a skirt, top and hat of the brand.
The clothing of the new label is expected to appear in stores and online sites in the fall of 2015.
