Atonio Puig, the founding father of Puig and the father of the family that now runs it, was born in the Catalan town of Vilassar de Dalt. He moved to Barcelona, went to study in England, from where he returned in 1912 with a well thought out business plan. A couple of years later, he founded a small company and gave it his name. For eight years, Antonio Puig was selling cosmetics locally, and then he realized that he wanted more. Therefore, in 1922, he began his production - including the first Spanish lipstick Milady. At the same time, Antonio was engaged in his personal life - in the same year he married Julia Planas, who will give birth to four sons.

The business grew exponentially: factories and branches were built in Spain and beyond, and new brands appeared in the portfolio. Puig has managed to take under its wing brands such as Paco Rabanne, Carolin Herrera, NinRicci and Jean Paul Gaultier, the perfume lines Prada, Valentino and Comme des Garcons, and signed contracts with Antonio Banderas and Shakira, for whom the corporation makes personalized fragrances.
