The desire to add modernity to the historic fashion house took Raf Simons to New York's Brooklyn area. This is the kingdom of beanie hats, sneakers and T-shirts - in a word, not the most respectable place in the world and certainly a very unexpected platform for showing such a brand. More recently, the words "Dior" and "Brooklyn" were difficult to imagine in one sentence. But the world has changed: Dior Haute Couture sneakers were also hard to imagine until last January.
As already mentioned, Raf Simons dedicated the collection to travel on a transatlantic liner. Or rather, not one trip, but several, back and forth: at the grandiose show of sixty-six exits, reminiscences of two cities, two countries, two worlds alternated. “For me, America is a constant source of inspiration,” said the designer. - Pop culture, energy, eternal mobility … Life is always in full swing here.

The main motive of the show was the classic silk scarves, le carre, as they say in Paris: from these colorful squares, it was as if layered, geometric skirts and tops were made. But the handkerchief, a rather bourgeois object, in general, is presented here differently, it flutters and embodies a kind of banner of freedom. Freedom is another keyword for this collection. Dior's iconic pleats and draperies have also gone beyond the usual concept to become free and weightless. There was even an almost completely transparent dress, which Rihanna, who was sitting in the front row, must have liked.
This also includes the courage of working with fur: intricate macramé fur and a black mink skirt. And the venue itself is also a new level of freedom and emancipation. And in general, the theme itself - the American style - is synonymous with freedom. Plus freedom in the broadest sense, the way Rafa's team casually treats elements of Dior history, all these Bar jackets, floral prints, wide skirts, translating them into a modern plane, adding laser perforation, asymmetric cut and stripes - a hint of the American flag …
