Every two years, a Flower Carpet is made in Brussels, where you can see a huge floral carpet of 750 thousand living begonias, which is planted on the central Grand Place. Begonia was chosen because it gives the richest palette of shades. Each time a unique pattern is developed for a flower carpet. This summer, between Saturday 13th and Monday 15th August, the carpet will return to Brussels. You can look at the flowers either from the square itself, or, for a panoramic view, going up to the balcony of the Town Hall.

In 2016, the 'carpet' will be special as the Flower Carpet celebrates its 20th anniversary. Its ornament will be dedicated to Japan in honor of the 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic and friendly relations with this country.
If you are coming to see the Flower Carpet, it is best to stay at the Amigo Hotel. Especially for this event, the hotel has prepared a special package and surprises for guests: a special cocktail Frozen Bubbles with Armagnac, hibiscus syrup and champagne, themed L'Antichambre candle sets and tickets to the town hall balcony. Guests staying at the hotel on August 12 will receive invitations to a cocktail in the courtyard of the city hall.

The homelike Hotel Amigo from the Rocco Forte Hotels collection is everywhere referred to as a "hotel for comics lovers", it is located between a store dedicated to Tintin and a mural of this cartoon character, invented by the self-taught Belgian artist Ergé.

In addition, the hotel has so-called tintin rooms and suites dedicated to René Magritte, another famous Belgian.

Hotel Amigo has a wonderful Italian restaurant Bocconi with chef Marco Visinoni. Marco works alongside renowned chef Fulvio Pieragelini, who has been awarded two Michelin stars. The hotel is located in the very center of the city - the main square of the city of Grand Place (the one where begonias will be planted) is just around the corner. Drive from here to the main shopping area of Danseur. The name of the hotel has an interesting origin. In 1522, a prison was located on the site of the hotel. The Spaniards, who ruled Belgium at that time and did not know the language well, confused the two Flemish words vrunt ("prison") and vriend ("friend") and began to call the building and the street with the Spanish word "amigo".
