Despite the hype that arose around the Zika virus, raging in Brazil, and the alternate refusal of the two royal families to personally attend the Olympics (the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as well as the Princess Charlene of Monaco decided not to risk their health in Rio), there were still desperate daredevils who risked cheering for their compatriots directly from the stands. They were the Crown Prince of Denmark and his wife, Princess Mary, who arrived in Rio last Sunday. True, the future rulers arrived without children. Together with Mary and Frederick, Prince Joachim and his wife Marie also went to Rio.

Upon arrival in Brazil, Mary and Frederic immediately found themselves in the thick of things - in an extremely short time the couple managed to attend an official IOC event, where Mary appeared in a charming Burberry dress, open the National Pavilion "Heart of Denmark" and, of course, talk to journalists. Mary said that for her there is nothing more exciting than being part of a grand sports event, especially since the princess met her husband at the Olympic Games. True, that time, 12 years ago, they took place in Mary's homeland, Sydney. Also, the future Queen of Denmark noted that she remembers her roots, and vowed to root for both the Danes and the Australians. On August 3, Mary met with the Danish swimming team and wished the athletes to take first place in the standings,in second place, the Crown Princess would have preferred to see the Australian national team.

As for the Zika virus, Mary refused to comment on the current situation. However, the actions of the future queen speak for themselves - she is not afraid of any threats. If only because Mary has already crossed the forty-year mark, the royal couple no longer plans children (we recall that Frederick and Mary have four), so there is practically nothing to be afraid of. Recall that the virus is most dangerous for a pregnant woman, as it causes irreparable physical deformities in the unborn child.

Among other things, Mary and Frederic managed to devote time to charity: as part of the Escolas de Amanh social program, the Danish government donated 5,000 Lego sets for poor schools in Brazil. Mary and her husband personally visited several schools to communicate with little Brazilians.

The princess will remain in Rio only until August 6, considering it necessary to return to the children as soon as possible, while Frederic plans to stay in the country until the end of the Olympics in order to resolve some issues that will contribute to the development of Danish business and culture in Brazil.
