The wind of distant wanderings is what really inspires us to take a suitcase from the top shelf of the closet one fine (or not so) day, load everything we need there and go explore the world. We are accustomed to taking only a camera from technology when going on a trip, and many do not do that either - the world is changing, and gadgets change with it, today a favorite place can be captured on a smartphone. However, there are still those rare connoisseurs of beauty who are ready to take a professional camera with them on a trip, to create masterpieces from what in itself is a unique, unique work of Nature (or a person - as you like, urbanism is now in vogue) … Thanks to artists finding signs of art in the most seemingly unexpected places, we,often deprived of the opportunity to go where we really want, we have the opportunity to see a film about the country of our dreams. It is to these people that the first in the history of the Maldives International Film Festival "Across the Equator", which was held in July on the island, lost in the Indian Ocean, the amazing paradise place The Sun Siyam Irufushi Maldives, is dedicated.

By and large, no one seriously deals with the so-called tourist cinematography. Moreover, the world, carried away by auteur cinema, blockbusters, thrillers, action and, of course, advertising, seems to have accidentally forgotten, thrown away, rejected an industry that nevertheless has great potential. Meanwhile, the field is not plowed, there is where to turn around and realize all creative desires, needs and opportunities. The International Tourism Film Festival is the first in every respect. First of all, the grandiose event took place for the first time on the island, and secondly, it seems, for the first time in the world (unless, of course, we take the much less significant "get-togethers"). Despite the fact that the three-day event brought together celebrities from all over the world: German actress Valentina Paade and blogger Mina Wattan Ramadhan Rahim from the Middle East also visited here, and the star of Chinese television Yang Zi, it still came out somehow warm and cozy at home. However, when the Indian Ocean is washing your feet, and you have a glass of prosecco in your hand, why not, after all, love the whole world?

Another indisputable plus of the festival, which promises to become a real discovery in the world of cinema, is the opportunity to participate in it for everyone. If you are talented, then even on the phone you can shoot a real movie, from which the viewer will take their breath away. So the question is solely in talent, and of course, in the place about which the author wants to tell his audience.

Paul Bowles said: the fundamental difference between a traveler and a tourist is that a tourist arriving at a new place immediately begins to want to return, and the traveler may not return. Travel, the directors prove with their tapes, is always a new love story, it is not for nothing that the classics led by Brodsky argued that sometimes you fall in love with a city more than with a person.

The jury of the film festival included experts from the field of cinema, television, tourism, sports, marketing, distribution, PR technologies and advertising, as well as critics and producers. For three days, in the format of gala dinners, the jury and guests of the festival were able to view dozens of videos of the competition program, including those from authors from Russia. Also, the program of shows included non-competitive works, which, by the way, were in no way inferior to those who competed for prizes. It seems that the selection committee has unconditional taste - and this is the rare case when the first pancake, instead of becoming lumpy, turned into a sumptuous dessert. Season it all with warm ocean breezes and pearl sands. Human art that is in harmony with the art of nature is a rare occurrence.

The main partners of the festival were the Golden Peak Film Festival and the FARAON Film Studio, they provided more than 100 best films for screening, many of which will soon be spoken about by the whole world.

The winners of the film festival, voted the best of the year by a jury and social media users, have won an unforgettable Maldives vacation for two with luxury villas at The Sun Siyam Iru Fushi Maldives. In addition, films that received prizes at ITFFM-2016 will be shown at the world's leading film festivals. Among them are Sergei Gudzlovenko from Kyrgyzstan with the film "One-Wheeled Cappadocia", Dagan Selair from Turkey with "House of Turquoise" and Herve Tirmarch with the film "Dubrovnik and Time".
