Summer flew by with almost cosmic speed, it was hot, it was fun, in love, sunny, whatever else, but, alas, sooner or later the warm days end, and they are replaced by a cool September. We have long evenings ahead of us, embracing with a blanket and a favorite book, and of course, with hot autumn drinks. How you sometimes want to pamper yourself with something sweet on a chilly evening! Well, we have something to offer you for that occasion - two amazing coffee drinks that you can easily prepare at home.
The first is the Italian affogato. Ideal for a cozy evening: two in one, coffee and dessert. Affogato, by and large, is a coffee with the addition of ice cream, so it can be easily confused with glaze, but gourmets know that glaze is cold coffee with the addition of a few spoonfuls of ice cream, but affogato is a real paradise for those with a sweet tooth. Ice cream is the basis here, and hot coffee and alcohol are added to accentuate the taste.
- 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream
- ¼ cups of hot espresso or freshly brewed coffee
- chocolate chips
- a pinch of sea salt (e.g. fleur de sel)
- ½ tablespoon of Grand Marnier liqueur (optional)
Place two scoops of vanilla ice cream in a glass and top with hot espresso.
Sprinkle with chocolate chips on top. Add some sea salt and liqueur if desired. Serve and enjoy!
Americano con Crema
True connoisseurs of coffee drinks know that the word “cream” is what professionals call the dense milk foam that forms on the surface of the drink. By the way, the "correct" foam should not be white at all, but golden-nut, it is then that the drink can be considered a success. However, we are used to the fact that "crema" is most often found on our favorite lattes and cappuccino. We dispel stereotypes! This time, you can make a foamed Americano. We are sure that you cannot remain indifferent to such a drink.
For orange syrup:
- ½ cup water
- ½ cup sugar
- zest of half an orange
For Americano con Cream:
- ⅓ cups 2% milk
- 1 tablespoon orange syrup
- 115 g espresso (Starbucks® Espresso Roast recommended)
- 60 g hot water
- Demerara brown sugar (optional)
For orange syrup, boil water, sugar, and zest together.
Then make Americano con Crema: Whisk the milk until frothy in a blender on high speed for two minutes and let sit for a minute or two.
Combine orange syrup, espresso, and hot water in a mug.
Add a few tablespoons of milk froth to the drink and sprinkle with sugar if desired.
