How can they eat cheeses, fatty sauces, high-calorie croissants, drink red wine and still not weigh a hundred kilograms ?! The French reveal their own secrets - in the book Dîne avec une fourchette! The Le Forking Diet, or Fork It! (the second is the American name) is more of a way of eating food. The rule is: you need to eat three times a day. But for dinner (until 6 pm), you can only eat what you can pick up on a fork. Plus, you must remember the French proverb: breakfast like a king, dine like a prince, and dine like a poor man.
Fork's Rule applies only to dinner - the creators insist that the rest (two) meals can be dispensed with. Because the most difficult thing in all diets is restrictions, and the more there are, the more difficult it is to hold out for long enough. And here it seems like you only need to keep track of dinner, which should not be so painful.
If you can't go without dessert in the evening (because you have nightmares without sweets), the book advises you to brush your teeth with some tasty fruit paste (with the aroma of mint, strawberry, gum) right after dinner, and if even the paste did not give you a feeling of satiety, you need to brew yourself a kettle of tea - herbal, fruit, aniseed - and drink it without sugar, honey and jam.
I decided to go on this diet right after my trip to Texas, where you can put hamburgers, pizzas and steaks on either a fork or even an agricultural pitchfork. In my first forked dinner, I got salmon (I had to pick it with a fork - you can't use a knife) and a bowl of green salad. By the way, consistent adherents of this diet insist that dinner should be cooked with a fork - no knives, ladles and rolling pins! In general, I usually eat dinner without a diet - with the only difference that now there is some kind of idea in all this … Besides, no grabbed cheese or apple in the process - I now live by the rules. The next day, in the morning and at lunch, I was already actively wielding a spoon and a knife, but still tried to adhere to the recommendations of the Le Forking diet. For breakfast - scrambled eggs from two eggs and tea with honey. For lunch, minestrone soup and vegetarian burrito. For dessert - fruit salad. There was a mistake with dinner - I ate it at nine, not six, because I usually have lunch at five or six. Why I can't eat artichokes, avocados, radishes and pumpkin now, I understand (I can't handle them without a knife and hands), but I can't accept. They're useful!
Is it effective? Of course. Like any other diet - especially at first. Plus there is a control whose name is "fork". But the main thing is not to snack! Therefore, nuts, chocolates, dried fruits are left out. Plus no alcohol in the evening. You can't even a glass of wine, because in red, for example, there are 80 kcal! (Although, if you dine with wine alone, you are unlikely to become very fat …) Now I don't go to parties because I don't drink. In general, all nutritionists scold alcohol, they say that it nullifies our efforts. (Only the Germans are kind to me, who invented the wine diet.)
Of course, Le Forking is better than, for example, the "After Sunset" diet that my friend is on. She only eats when the sun hides behind the horizon. No, she is not a Muslim and is not Ramadan now. And better than "Traffic Light", when only red foods are allowed for breakfast (tomatoes, carrots, beets, raspberries, cherries, strawberries, pomegranates, salmon fish, shrimps, lobsters), for lunch - yellow foods (potatoes, yellow peppers, banana, citrus, persimmon, omelet), and for dinner - green (dill, green onions, cucumbers, cabbage, green beans, peas, apples, gooseberries, kiwi, grapes).
The fork diet has one "but" - you need to be honest with yourself and really eat at dinner only what is permissible in a decent society to eat with a fork without a knife (Buckingham Palace rules do not count!). Yes, you can chop a whole chicken and a chop on it - it will look like a pig, but when you want to eat, you can neglect it …
The founders of this diet are Ivan Gavriloff and Sophie Troff. Ivan is not a nutritionist, but the director of a consulting firm. He put on weight and had to figure out a way to lose weight. He collected everything he had gained from years of personal struggle, and his conclusion on the benefits of a fork diet found a favorable response among nutritionists. - In the evening, it is strictly forbidden to eat nuts, chips, sausages, pizza, pies, soup, half-raw eggs, avocado, cold meat, hummus, pate, as well as sandwiches, burgers, steak, sausage, fried and stewed meat.
- Dinner should be without dessert: cookies, chocolate, ice cream, jelly, pancakes and waffles, and even without fresh and dried fruit, yogurt.
- For dinner, you will have to do without bread, sauces, butter, cheese, mustard and ketchup.
Alternative to the fork
In addition to Le Forking, there are other diets that closely monitor what kind of dishes you have at home.
