
A variety of tastes, non-standard combinations of sweet, spicy and spicy, many different textures - Asian cuisine is one of the most popular in the whole world. However, despite the variety of dishes, one of the main components of the cuisine is soups, the most famous of which is Tom Yam.
The recipe for this dish appeared several centuries ago in Thailand and Laos - the locals prepared a spicy soup with spices and meat of frogs, river fish or chicken. In addition, coconut milk was absent in the first variations of the soup - Tom Yam fans believed that the recipe should be as simple and accessible as possible.

However, in the 20th century, everything changed - during the reign of Rama VI, new technologies for growing shrimp began to appear, which made this product more affordable. It was at this time that Indian traders (and, according to another version, Chinese immigrants) modernized the original soup recipe, replacing the main ingredient with shrimp, and also adding coconut milk. This version is called tom yam kung.
The variation came to the taste of the locals, and later spread throughout the world - today tom yam is prepared not only in Asian regions, but also in other parts of the world. We share the recipe.
Ingredients:
- Tiger prawns 7 pcs.
- Chicken broth 350 ml
- Champignons 5 pcs.
- Pepper paste Tom Yam 2 tsp
- Kaffir lime leaves 5 g
- Fish sauce 2.5 tbsp
- Cherry tomatoes 5 pcs.
- Coconut milk 400 ml
- Galangal 10 g
- Lemon grass ½ pc.
- Chili pepper ½ pc.
- Lime 1 pc.
- Cilantro
- Vegetable oil 1 tbsp
- Salt

Cooking method:
Cut the galangal root into large pieces, finely chop the lemongrass and chili. Cut the champignons into four large pieces, peel the shrimp and remove the intestine, leaving the tail.
Send chopped galangal, chili pepper, lemongrass, lime leaves into a heated deep heat-resistant container with the addition of vegetable oil, pour the broth and bring to a boil. Then pour the coconut milk into the container and add the mushrooms and pasta tom yam - cook again until boiling.
Then add lime juice, shrimp, cilantro leaves, cherry tomatoes, chopped in two, and fish sauce to the soup. Cook for a few more minutes.
