Not everything is healthy that is rich in vitamins and grown on eco-farms. In recent years, superfoods have become a part of our lives. Even the most avid lovers of bread and pasta fell under the onslaught of avocados. And in vain. Let's figure out why this is so.
Avocado
Avocados are a rich source of healthy fats and various acids, but like any barrel of honey, they contain a small fly in the ointment. So, due to the high calorie content, avocados can contribute to obesity. A healthy and figure-free serving of this fruit should fit into 50 kcal, which is approximately one-fifth of an avocado. Anything above is already risky for your figure. So our advice is to watch the portions, especially when the hand reaches for the avocado sauces and other "spreads" again. There, as a rule, extra calories are hidden.

Kale or kale
Over the past year, kale has become the new chia seed - everyone who cares about their health eats it, magazines praise its miraculous properties, and supermarkets buy these funny leaves in incredible quantities. But, we hasten to disappoint you, superfood lovers, not everything is healthy that is green and rich in vitamins. It turns out that feces can cause irreparable harm to your thyroid gland. The reason is the substance thiocyanate, which tends to accumulate in the body and slow down the rate of iodine metabolism. As a result, the risk of developing thyroid diseases increases.
Also among the side effects of feces is a decrease in metabolism, which leads to an increase in body weight. You should especially be careful with smoothies and juices based on this cabbage, since the concentration of all useful (and not so) substances in them becomes prohibitively high.

Quinoa
Quinoa is impossible not to love: it is an excellent source of protein, an important supplier of amino acids, plus it is gluten-free, which is not recommended for losing weight. Simply put, quinoa is the perfect food for those looking to shed a few extra pounds. Besides, it is not for us to talk about its excellent taste.
So why did this miracle product so annoy the scientists? After carefully studying quinoa, they came to the conclusion that it contains saponins, which in large quantities are extremely toxic to our body (see also: "What to do (and eat) to protect the body from urban toxins"). Of course, quinoa is not so concentrated in quinoa that a cereal meal will bring you to a hospital room. Meanwhile, they are quite capable of causing discomfort and irritation in the stomach, even in small quantities. What to do about it? Control portions, monitor what and when you eat.

Goji berries
Rich in antioxidants, vitamins, polysaccharides and many other useful substances, goji berries improve skin condition and vision, are good for preventing colds, improve digestion, slow down the aging process, nourish brain cells, increase efficiency, and so on.
But, unfortunately, they also have a significant disadvantage, even several. Firstly, not everyone can eat them, for example, they are not suitable for pregnant and lactating women. Secondly, berries can provoke bloating and diarrhea. Thirdly, goji are extremely high in calories, therefore, due to the high sugar content, it is better to limit their consumption to those who are losing weight.

Chia seeds
Another true superfood that boasts record amounts of calcium, fiber, potassium, magnesium, iron, fatty acids and antioxidants. It makes wonderful puddings and desserts. Chia seeds can help increase physical stamina and improve overall health. Well, and, of course, those who are losing weight will especially like them, as they can significantly speed up the metabolism.
The only thing for which you can not love them is because they are a strong allergen and are contraindicated for people with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. If the recommended dosage is exceeded, they can seriously harm your stomach, as well as provoke various symptoms of intoxication.

Fish
The benefits of fish are obvious and undeniable. Even vegetarians agree with this: there is a special food system - pescetarianism, which excludes all food of animal origin, except for fish and seafood. It is believed that fish is extremely rich in various polyunsaturated fatty acids and other vitamins that cannot be obtained in such quantities from other foods.
Well, it is, however, with a small caveat. Many types of fish, for example, the same salmon, contain mercury in meat, which in high concentrations is dangerous for our body (see also: "10 types of fish that are better not to eat"). Of course, in most of the fish we eat, the concentration of this metal is low, but it is better not to take risks and not eat it more than two or three times a week.
