There are no doors that would be impossible to open for an amount equivalent to a strong desire to be among the prominent figures of the film industry, guests of the annual Cannes Film Festival. Ksenia Ferz, a specialist in social and business positioning, founder of the Esthetiquette.club online academy of image and etiquette, tells about how to do this as cleverly and dignifiedly as possible.
First of all, you should learn that the Cannes Film Festival is for professionals in the film and media industry. Numerous concierge services provide lobbying of invitations for lovers of good cinema and beautiful leisure, which do not require a guest to be someone. “But pirate ways of getting into the crowd is a rude move that threatens with shame instead of benefits. I categorically do not recommend bluffing and pretending to be one of the strangers,”comments Ksenia.

Don't introduce yourself by the name of an accredited journalist
Brave partisans consider this method to be the most reliable, because journalists are not celebrities, and it is difficult to instantly recognize them. In the meantime, some names are almost guaranteed to be on the guest list, and usually these people are too busy to cover all the parties on the first weekend of the festival. It is superfluous to describe a sitcom that can catch a sly guy by surprise, claiming in front of the yacht Roberto Cavalli that he is from The Hollywood Reporter next to … a real representative of The Hollywood Reporter.
Do not try to bribe face control or security
The amount that no mortal holding the honorary post of gatekeeper of a vanity fair could refuse is not much different from the amount that the average concierge would ask for. The ticket price for the Vanity Fair Party (read also: "The most stylish celebrity couples at the Vanity Fair-2019") through the Grand Rivier concierge service starts at 11,000 euros, the final cost depends on the excitement.

Don't change into staff uniforms
Brave and resourceful bloggers recommend dressing up as a waiter and trying to sneak through the back facade of the building. Doubtful tactics. Only if in this life you already have nothing to lose, or if you are not making your own live-time short film about unlucky party-goers, which you are going to sell at the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival next year.
Don't act a comedy
The scenario of the passage disguised as a life TV reporter promises no less embarrassment, although eccentrics like Horace Cole would have liked it. Dress elegantly, hold a microphone with the recognizable logo of a well-known press organization in your hand and comment on your actions in an invisible camera without stopping in front of the restraints - a tactic that people can afford … who can afford it. In case you get stopped, it's best to prepare a speech that naturally sounded from a life TV journalist - something scandalous and intimidating (advice from Cole).

Dare only if you look no worse than a celebrity
Some characters with looks, dress / tuxedo and party people manners (people without whom parties turn into dull social functions) sometimes dare uninvited and even without a question in the eyes, as if they were the most welcome guests of the evening.
In 10% of cases, this works because the intuitive system for recognizing social classes is still alive in French culture. And if someone looks and acts exactly like a person who belongs to the elite, the French have no control over the situation (read also: "Les Grandes Alpes:" all at once "in French").

But in 90% of cases, the it-factor of such guests is exposed. Arranging such festivities is an expensive undertaking, so the organizers do their best not to water the onlookers of Dom Pérignon.
What exactly can't you do on the red carpet?
The bad news. Selfies banned on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. Thierry Frémaud, director of the festival, explained the ban as follows: "The triviality (banality / vulgarity / pettiness / meaninglessness) and slowdowns caused by selfies compromises the quality of the red carpet." Only a Frenchman is capable of such a sensitive attitude to the ceremonial of a secular celebration. Vivbon ton!
Is it really impossible to appear on the red carpet in ballet shoes?
The dress code of the red carpet premier is definitely a black tie: tuxedos for men, evening dresses for ladies. But this is an evening formal dress code. The festival, on the other hand, functions as a place for interaction of professionals from early morning, so a lounge suit is expected in the afternoon with a discount on the Mediterranean heat and the secular nature of the festival. According to the rules of good form, none of the mentioned dress codes imply ballet flats, but this taboo was not officially broadcast from the administration of the festival.

A 2015 incident in which rumored two ladies in low-speed shoes were denied entry to the festival was denied by Thierry Fremaud on Twitter: he called it unconfirmed gossip. But the scandal with attacks on the "regressive" policy of the festival has already begun to flare up in the media and social networks.
The nagging at the "guilty sexists" finally faded away only after the triumphant appearance of Julia Roberts barefoot, the public exposure from Kristen Stewart's stilettos in front of amazed reporters and the appearance of Susan Saradon in a men's tuxedo and glamorous pumps without a hint of heels. The promotion worked in favor of the landmark approval of the rule - at the red carpet of the Cannes Festival, heels are not considered an obligatory women's uniform.

By the way …
Once in its history, the Festival de Cannes has instituted such an extraordinary award as the Palme des Palmes d'Or palm frond. It was presented only once - to Ingmar Bergman in the 50th anniversary year of the festival. The Swedish filmmaker was not present at the ceremony; an elegant prize in a box from Cartier was taken for him by his daughter, Lynn Ullmann.
