If it were necessary to describe Rita Ora in one word, it would be the word “challenge”. He is in songs, in all her guise of an ash blonde with bright red lips. Ora seems to be constantly testing this world, the environment, stereotypes and herself for strength. She doesn't care what people think of her if she herself believes that she is doing the right thing. Raised in London as the daughter of Kosovar émigrés, Rita Ora is today one of Britain's most popular singers and coveted socialites. Provocatively sexy, she has repeatedly become the face of advertising campaigns for international fashion and beauty brands and appeared nude on the covers of many fashion magazines.
Rita calls herself “the strangest person on earth”, without specifying what exactly she means. As a child, she dyed her hair with spray paint and reshaped clothes. Now she has a couple of dozen wigs, which she changes according to her mood. Daring and independent, Ora does not hesitate to be sentimental - she can burst into tears listening to the X-Factor contestants.
Despite her frankly sexy image, according to the secular chroniclers, there are not many novels behind her: with the American singer Bruno Mars, the Scotsman Calvin Harris and the son of Tommy Hilfiger rapper Ricky Hill. In April, the tabloids, with varying degrees of confidence, assigned her to the rapper Jay-Z, the husband of Beyoncé, about whose betrayal she sings in the latest album Lemonade. Rita Ora then wrote on her Twitter that "all this gossip is a lie." This, however, did not calm the angry Beyoncé fans, who unleashed a barrage of curses on Ora. But it doesn't bother her much. At least in appearance: she is fluent in the purely British ability to keep her face. But at the same time she herself says in a slightly hoarse voice: “Many people forget that celebrities are people too. Sometimes".

Marie Claire: Rita, you once said that music and fashion are similar. Than?
Rita Ora: No, I did not say that they are similar - they complement each other, one works for the other and vice versa. This is one creative world. In my life now they are really very intertwined: I do a lot of advertising campaigns for fashion brands, and I love it.
If you had to choose the soundtrack of your life, what would it be?
It's hard to say, I'm only 25. I haven't seen a lot of things, everything is still ahead. So I honestly don't know. I can't name a single song or even an album.
Okay, then tell me what's in your playlist now?
Lately I've been listening to Section Boyz, PartyNextDoor, Mr. Easy and this new guy, Gallant.
Your image of a blonde with bright red lipstick is already a kind of brand, inseparable from the music. Didn't think to change it, do you like change?
I did not invent this image, it took shape by itself. And in general, people stand out and are attracted by their natural manifestations. And the artificial mask, which you "put on" and which does not correspond to the content, is seen from the outside. I look the way I feel. I like to experiment, I often change some elements of the image, but I don't plan any radical changes yet, no.
Do you adhere to fashion trends?
No it is not for me.
Then how do you define your style?
I am inspired by things that give rise to some kind of associations or memories. Yes, I look at a lot of new collections and choose what I like - but not because others assure me that it is fashionable and cool. I don't care when someone says that this season you need to dress like this and not otherwise.
You are the face of several Tezenis collections, starring in lingerie and bikini commercials. You seem to have real chemistry with this brand?
Oh yeah! Filming for the first campaign last year went well and I'm glad to be invited again. And now I am not only the face of Tezenis, but also a co-designer of the lingerie collection, which will be released early next year, on Valentine's Day. I really like working with them, I like that this brand is not only fashionable, beautiful, sexy, but also affordable.
What inspired you to be a designer?
When I started working with Tezenis, I realized that I wanted to release my own collection, so I told them - that's how it all started. I am interested in doing something exclusive - a small line of bright, sexy and at the same time comfortable models.

MC: What's your biggest achievement to date?
Rita Ora: I am incredibly lucky, because I can do what I really love and see my dreams come true every day. I am a workaholic, I love to work, I try to do everything one hundred percent. I like to do different things at the same time, which, I must say, I am good at combining: music, design, TV projects, cinema. I think this is my main achievement.
By the way, about the movie. Tell us about your role in the new film Fifty Shades Darker
As in the first part, "Fifty Shades of Gray", I play the sister of Christian Gray. I'm happy to be back on set with the amazing Jamie Dornan, Dakota Johnson and the whole crew. In the sequel, Kim Basinger also joined the cast: working with a legend is, of course, worth a lot. By the way, the film also comes out on February 14 next year - in my opinion, a great coincidence, there is something in this.
How is film work different from music? I mean the process itself, the atmosphere
The musician has more control over the process and the end result: this is your vision, your music. In cinema, everything is different: there is a screenwriter, a director, and you, as an actress, embody part of their idea. This is the difficulty, but I like it. A completely different sensation, unlike what you feel on stage.
In 2009, you passed the selection for Eurovision, but then you refused to participate in the competition because you did not feel “ready”. Would you sing now?
Honestly, I didn't think about it, so much time has passed. When I was chosen as one of the candidates, I was very happy. I was terribly worried, for the sake of preparing for the competition, I even decided to skip a year at school. And then, when the time came, I realized that I was not very interested in Eurovision as a format and as a stage, so I refused.
With the Oscar, probably everything is different. How did you feel when you sang on the stage of the world's main film awards last year?
It was more scary than ever. I can't even really describe this feeling: a mixture of fear and pride. You go on stage and just feel with your skin that millions of eyes are watching you at this moment, that there is no turning back. And in the hall are the idols of childhood, on whose films you grew up - and you look at them, and they at you. Despite the fear and excitement, this was the best experience of my life. I tried to feel and remember every second.

MC: Are you working on an album now? When to expect new songs?
Rita Ora: Yes, I s Record the new drive, but I can only say that this is one of the most personal and honest my albums, so I experience almost more than the debut.
How do you select the musicians you work with?
I have an amazing team, the composition of which has remained practically unchanged for many years. As a family, we know almost everything about each other. There are no random people: if someone new appears, they are usually friends of friends. You can't just get into Ora's empire, that's for sure. Just kidding.
In a recent interview, you confessed to your fear of death. Where is he from at 25?
It's not that I'm afraid. I just think a lot about the future, and death is one of its forms. Probably so.
How has the origin and life of a Kosovar expat family in Britain influenced you?
I was born in Kosovo, I was only a year old when our family emigrated. I have wonderful parents and had a wonderful childhood. But of course the origin is a part of you, I have songs about fighting and survival, and it's kind of a sublimation of the teenage experience.
You were named after 1940s Hollywood star Rita Hayworth. Do you feel a connection with her?
Rita Hayworth was one of my grandfather's favorite film director actresses. I don't know if there is a connection, I just got used to it and I live with this name, but I hope so - she's a legend.
What do you value most in people?
Honesty, loyalty, trust.
And if you are betrayed?
I generally try not to dwell on the negative. If a person disappoints me, this feeling lives in me for a while, but then I let it go. The most important thing is not to be angry.
