Before the long autumn-winter season, it is important to make sure that the body is fully ready to face what colds bring with it - colds, ailments, exacerbations of chronic diseases. What should be done right now in order to avoid visiting doctors at the height of the season - we figured out together with the head physician of the Fifth Element anti-aging clinic, Julia Titel.
1. Do not be lazy to pass a general blood test (as early as possible)
The state of the immune system is the first thing to pay attention to. If it is weakened, it becomes difficult for the body to resist the pressure of bacteria and infections: as a result, inflammation may occur, which will certainly distract the immune system and reduce the level of protection against the attack of microorganisms and viruses.
Those who get sick with high frequency, adapt worse to weather changes, constantly experience fatigue - it is more difficult to concentrate on work. If you timely find and eliminate the reason why the immune system cannot cope with colds, your quality of life will significantly increase.
2. Get tested for vitamins
At the beginning of autumn, it will not be superfluous to thoroughly analyze the abundance and deficiency of some key vitamins: the level of vitamin D3 and fat-soluble vitamins A, E, K. D3 is involved in the formation of hormonal levels and affects the control of immunity. Vitamin A is responsible for protecting the skin, E for steroid hormones, vitamin K for blood and the absorption of D3. B vitamins are responsible for neuroprotection, hematopoiesis, skin, etc.
Any flaw indicates that the person did something wrong and did not correct the mistake in time. If the indicators tend to the lower limit, the deficit must be filled with medication, because it is almost impossible to quickly close a serious imbalance at the expense of food.
At the same time, drug support serves as prevention and helps to strengthen the body before the season of epidemics. The opinion that vitamins of non-plant origin are useless is absolutely wrong, because the molecule of an artificial vitamin, reconstituted by biochemical means, is no different from a natural one (see also: "Anti-vitamin products for awakening from autumn hibernation").
3. Consider the individual characteristics of the organism and genetics
The deficiency is often due to genetics. Genes are responsible for the production of enzymes that activate the output of a particular vitamin. People with increased production of these enzymes have a slightly higher daily vitamin requirement than others. If you know that you belong to this group, do not forget to additionally support yourself during periods of high stress - mental, psycho-emotional, physical.
This should be done under the supervision of a physician, because, for example, a high concentration of vitamin D in the body increases its toxic effect. The optimum is 60%, which you yourself will never calculate. You can independently support yourself with a two-week course of multivitamins, where all the elements are contained in a minimum dose.
Pay extra attention to vitamin C if you don't have an excess. It enhances the basic defenses of the body and gives a strong boost to the immune system. Vitamin C, like any vitamins, is best taken in the first half of the day, because they excite and tone the body. If you take them before lunchtime, they are well absorbed, spent on basic needs and do not interfere with sleep.
4. Observe the frequency and severity of stress
Another thing that definitely needs to be paid attention to in the fall is an assessment of the stress level, which increases the risk of getting sick tenfold. Rate it yourself every morning on a scale from zero to ten - if it's more than six, take action.
You may have to change the daily routine a little: go to bed no later than 23, get up at 7. You don't need to sleep more than ten hours, you can't sleep less than six. Combine the correct daily regimen with the intake of B vitamins, for example, magnesium B6, neuromultvita. Also, make time for physical activity in your schedule: it helps to deplete stress hormones. You can also include a relaxing body massage, which can change the path of impulses from the stimulus to the central nervous system.
5. Humidification inside and outside
In the autumn-winter period, the skin requires special care: in cold weather, moisture is quickly lost by skin cells, the accumulation of the stratum corneum and the likelihood of inflammation increase. As a result, the skin tries to protect itself, but at the same time creates an environment for pathogenic flora - streptococci, staphylococci.
At this point, light scrubs, peels, hyaluronic acid injections, moisturizing creams and serums should enter your beauty arsenal. It is imperative to remove keratinized keratin scales, and hygiene and hydration are a real must (read also: "High humidity: 7 best moisturizers for the autumn period").
6. Actively try anti-age
If you are thinking about anti-aging treatments or surgeries, it is good to do it in the fall or winter. The cold season is better suited for recovering from manipulations that leave traces. In addition, short daylight hours and denser clothing help to completely hide them, and the risk of developing hyperpigmentation during this time is much lower than in summer.
