Light "smoky", giving the look a mysterious depth, barely noticeable freckles, translucent lipstick on the lips - the image of Meghan Markle, the newly made Duchess of Sussex, without exaggeration, charming, and so much so that she is rarely given a full 36 years. One of the most convincing beauty assets of an American woman, a snow-white smile, also speaks in favor of the "girl without age". According to dentists, every second girl in the world wants to have one today.

The Duchess's smile, not blindingly bright and not unnaturally wide, is the kind that monarchs should have - real. Aesthetic dentistry (we do not doubt that it was) managed to achieve a reasonable balance between perfection and naturalness. And no matter how original it sounds, we are talking, first of all, about proportions. The ideal, pleasing to the human eye, is based on the Fibonacci number sequence and the principle of the "golden ratio" (we talked about this in detail in the material "The ideal royal face: Megan, Kate or Eugene?"). When it comes to a perfect smile, the Golden Ratio involves a set of six front teeth that must fit into the following equation. The ratio between the width of the lateral incisor and the central tooth should be 1: 1.6, and the ratio between the width of the lateral incisor and canine should be 1: 0.6. Defines the beauty of a smile, above all, the upper central incisors, which are modeled if necessary. Now for a few interesting details that we noticed with Meghan Markle.
5 little tricks on the way to the "Duchess's smile":

Smile wider
Buccal (or buccal) corridors are what can drastically change the proportions of your smile. Normally, the teeth should fill the entire smile without a trace (such a smile is called "full"), but sometimes a dark space is seen in the corners - these are the cheek corridors. Megan smiles broadly and confidently for the camera because her cheek corridors are minimal. Aesthetically, this is a very pleasant option, which can be approached by a visit to the orthodontist and an inconspicuous bracket that increases the area of the exposed tooth space.

Do not open your gums
The harmony of lips, teeth and gums is another important factor in the attractiveness of a smile. The Duchess is fine with that. And if not? Ideally, the upper lip should "sit" just above the upper row of teeth without exposing the entire gum when you laugh (maximum 2mm is allowed).
A "naked" smile has a special designation - gum.
To correct it, you need to go to an orthodontist with a surgeon or, quite unexpectedly, to a cosmetologist. The former can suture the circular muscle of the mouth, depriving it of hypermobility (the gum will not be physically exposed), make frenuloplasty (excision of the frenum of the upper lip) or correct the gum tissue using a laser. The cosmetologist will work with fillers and / or botox - an increase in the volume of the upper lip and partial blockage of the facial muscles will not solve the problem, but it will contribute to a pleasant visualization of the smile. However, there is an easier way - cultivating the habit of smiling correctly in front of the mirror.

Choose the perfect shape
Until a few years ago, “perfect” teeth meant veneers with clear square edges ─ beautiful, but slightly artificial. Note that, by nature, the shape of the teeth is not ideal - the incisors, for example, are usually slightly rounded, and also of different lengths (the difference goes by fractions of a millimeter, so it is not felt).
Modern aesthetic dentistry is aimed at maintaining the imperfect shape of the teeth, round and "soft".
This requirement for a perfect smile can be illustrated as follows: imagine the oval shape of the nail and the aesthetic "soft square" ─ both are good, but the first is more natural and close to natural. Megan's teeth look very harmonious and in a good way “not perfect” ─ a worthy job of a dentist.

Adjust proportions
The center of the two front teeth should correspond to the midline, which can mentally divide the face in half - this symmetry is beneficial for the look. Deviations from the course are corrected by aligners - mouth guards for aligning the teeth. They are custom made and are actively worn for several weeks. During this time, the teeth are displaced, taking the correct position on the jaw arch. Here, however, you need to understand that the crooked teeth of the aligners will make them smoother: to correct serious defects in the bite, you will have to wear braces.

Decide on the color
One of the insidious properties of veneers is their linear color - Hollywood white, opaque, devoid of the play of natural shades. Natural tooth enamel reflects light and creates a kind of three-dimensional glow. Therefore, before 3D whitening, you need to think carefully: after all, the smile of the Duchess of Sussex can only be criticized for a slightly whiter tooth color than it is provided by nature. In pursuit of whiteness, remember that the ideal shade of tooth enamel matches the tone of the whites of the eyes.
