What is a booster and how to use it, says dermatologist, cosmetologist Elena Kovtunova.
What it is
Translated from English, a booster is an amplifier. Due to the high concentration of active substances, it enhances the effect of any cosmetics, thereby penetrating deeper into the skin and improving its condition. In essence, it is a "beauty concentrate" and is many times superior to the effect of a cosmetic cream, which means it works more intensively. In addition, the booster retains moisture in the deep layers of the epidermis, which makes the skin of the face shiny and smooth. In consistency, it is indistinguishable from a regular cream, but the desired effect from its use is achieved much faster. In short, the booster strengthens the structure of the skin, corrects its imperfections and protects against premature aging.
How to use it
The booster can be used on its own and in combination with other cosmetic products, for example, with a daily or night cream, serum or mask. The result will not be long in coming - it will intensify their effect several times in a matter of minutes. The concentrate can be applied to the face before using the cream, in this case the booster will "accompany" it to the extracellular space of the epidermis and make it work more efficiently than usual.
How to choose the right
When choosing a booster, you need to understand what skin problems it needs to solve and with what ingredients it can be combined. The active substances of the booster should not conflict with the components of the cosmetic product, the effect of which must be enhanced. Vitamin C in the composition of the booster is designed to give the face a beautiful shade and prevent rosacea, and with hyaluronic acid - to nourish and moisturize the skin. There are even lines with medicinal properties that enhance the growth of eyelashes and eyebrows. And "skin boosters" are designed for injection techniques.
When to apply
Intensive skin care combined with a booster is especially useful after stress or illness. You can use the concentrate for asthenia, pale complexion or dry skin. But after the skin is restored, you need to give it a break and stop using the booster. Are there any contraindications?
You should not use a booster for those who are often worried about inflammatory skin rashes. Allergy sufferers should not abuse the amplifier either. Since professional cosmetics lines use a high concentration of active substances (and even poisons), it can cause an allergic reaction in those prone to allergies. Therefore, before the first use on the face, the booster should be tested on a small area of the skin of the hand.
