CFS or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a disease characterized by increased fatigue, a severe decrease in performance, vitality, muscle weakness and a constant feeling of fatigue that does not go away even after prolonged rest.
The main symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome are:
- Rapid fatigue that does not go away even after prolonged sleep;
- Sleep disorder - drowsiness or insomnia, or maybe both;
- Excessive irritability;
- Depressed state, sometimes causeless depression;
- Joint pain that is not accompanied by swelling or redness
- Headaches in areas where they were not felt before;
- General muscle weakness;
- Muscle pain or discomfort;
- Pain in the anterior and posterior cervical or axillary lymph nodes;
- Sore throat;
- A slight increase in temperature accompanied by chills.
There are many reasons that can be a catalyst for a disease. Here are some of the main and most common ones:
Reason # 1. Sedentary lifestyle
By the nature of your work, you have to spend a lot of time in the office or at meetings, where you are constantly sitting, and you use a car to move around the street.
Reason # 2. Emotional stress
Most common among managers at different levels. You have to make many different decisions every day, communicate with a large number of people, give them assignments and bear a great burden of responsibility for everything that happens in your department.
Reason number 3. Weakened immunity
It can occur after the transfer of viral diseases, such as tonsillitis, SARS, flu, etc. By the way, some doctors believe that chronic fatigue syndrome occurs precisely after past illnesses, and everything else just aggravates the situation, but is by no means the root cause.
Reason number 4. Bad ecology
Typical for residents of megacities. City dust, gas curtains, toxic exhaust - it is obvious that all this does not benefit our body. However, if earlier it was pleasant to consider all this to be the cause of physiological diseases, now bad ecology has reached our psychological state.
Reason number 5. Too active lifestyle
You constantly have a lot of things to do and they are all concentrated in different parts of the city. Most likely, you are a manager and a career woman in one bottle, and therefore strive to do everything at once. By the way, family women, careerists, are even more susceptible to chronic fatigue, since in addition to running around at work, they have a lot of other things to do at home.
Reason number 6. Bad habits
Smoking not only harms our lungs, but also depletes the body's energy reserves. Having smoked a cigarette, you get a temporary charge of vivacity, which is sucked out of these very reserves and interferes with the well-coordinated work of the body. Alcohol kills brain cells, and with the brain, one way or another, all processes occurring in the body and the work of the organs themselves, among other things, are connected.
Reason number 7. Improper nutrition
You take the maximum from the body (and mental work requires even more nutrition than physical work), but you forget to properly reward it. Since casual snacks have become commonplace for you, you sometimes can't even remember what you put in your mouth.
As a rule, it takes about 6 months to diagnose chronic fatigue, but knowing the characteristic symptoms, you can independently diagnose it after 1-2 months.
For accurate diagnosis and subsequent treatment of this syndrome, we recommend that you consult a doctor. However, there are several ways to cope with the disease yourself. Here are some steps to help combat chronic fatigue:
Step one: Eliminate / reduce the number of cigarettes and alcohol servings
Intoxication, slagging of the body and household alcoholism are one of the causes of chronic fatigue. It is possible that giving up the listed things will be enough, and your body will return to normal.
Step two: eliminate / reduce the amount of fatty foods taken
As we have already said, poor nutrition does not have the best effect not only on your physical condition, but also on your psychological one. Make it a rule to eat three times a day at the same time, give up snacks, fast food and include white meat, vegetables, fruits in the diet.
Step three: plan your day optimally
To begin with, try to distribute not only affairs, but also forces. Make sure to write down a time to rest before you slam the planner shut. It will be more convenient to schedule the day not by points of important matters, but by time. Let's say from 8:00 to 10:00 - jogging, from 10:00 to 12:00 - work, from 14:00 to 15:00 - a break. A diary containing fields over time will greatly facilitate your task.
Step four: relax
When doing work that requires time, visual concentration and mental activity (cold calls, bulk emails, etc.) sit back in your chair for 5 minutes, close your eyes and try not to think about anything. Take these breaks at least every hour you spend in the same activity.
Step five: aromatherapy
While at the office, drip some lavender oil onto a tissue and inhale the scent every time you need to relax and calm your nerves. At home, place aroma candles in the bathroom and take a warm bath with geranium, sandalwood and lavender oils (2 drops each).
Step Six: Healing Menu
Drink, at least once a day for 6 weeks, teas with licorice root, echinacea, curly sorrel, or tenacious bedstraw. These herbs strengthen the immune system and increase resistance to stress.
