In the wake of the movement for sustainable production and a reduction in the carbon footprint of the perfumery industry, the Roman jeweler Bvlgari opens a new chapter in the history of responsible perfumery. The new project “Flower Gems Of India” was born in collaboration with the fragrance developer FIRMENICH and its local partner JASMINE CONCRETE, who have developed a unique agricultural model associated with the cultivation of jasmine. The initiative will run from 2019 to 2021 and will affect about 100 family farms in two regions of the Indian florist zone of Tamil Nadu.

Bvlgari and its partners offer a refined approach to the cultivation of one of the most popular perfume ingredients, jasmine. The new model assumes the use of the principles of permaculture, soil restoration and rational water supply. Experts predict that organic farming methods and a short supply chain will significantly improve the quality of the product and increase the level of social and economic well-being in the region.

For the Bvlgari brand, the project has become a source of pride and implementation of the ethical standards and views inherent in its philosophy.

“The search for the finest and most perfect precious gifts of nature led BVLGARI to Firmenich and its partner Jasmine Concrete - the producer of the highest quality jasmine in the world,” says Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of BVLGARI. “It has become important for us to help the communities that allow us to create our perfume masterpieces, as well as to develop a sustainable approach to preserve and support the local economy. Like jewelry, our fragrances are created from amazingly precious gifts and we are passionately committed to exploring, accessing, and supporting their production as much as possible.”
