Because of the COVID-19 that suddenly hit us, many of the fair sex remained practically at a broken trough, because you can't go to the salon for a dose of good mood and beauty. Manicure causes particular excitement among the fair sex, because, as you know, you can't be like it for more than 2-3 weeks. The main thing that the manicure masters warn about in this situation is that you cannot walk with gel polish longer than the prescribed time, otherwise you will face troubles in the form of cracks or peeling of the nail (scientifically - onycholysis). Darya Pogodina, theater and film actress, shares the main "life hacks" on how to shoot it competently and without loss at home.
Method number 1: Foil
You will need a special gel polish remover, 3 cotton pads, a nail file, an orange stick, and regular foil. An important point: the gel polish remover can be replaced with a regular nail polish remover, and the foil should only be used with the glossy side.

- Divide the cotton pads into 4 parts and prepare the foil for each finger so that each piece is enough to wrap the top of the finger with the nail.
- Moisten ¼ of a cotton pad in nail polish remover, apply a triangle to the nail, wrap it with foil. We do the same with the rest of the fingers. We stand for at least 15 minutes.
- Remove the foil from each finger separately. And with the help of an orange stick, we try to carefully, but moderately persistently, clean it of varnish. If it doesn't work, we repeat the procedure with a cotton pad and foil. The remains of the coating can be removed with a nail file, but you need to act very carefully so as not to damage the nail plate.
Method number 2: File
Unlike the first method, filing the top layer of gel polish with a file greatly simplifies its removal. Saw off several layers of gel as hard as possible (without touching the surface of your nail), then you can turn to the foil method.
Method number 3: Milling cutter
Today, many lovers of neat nails have this device, so its presence is not uncommon. To remove gel polish, you will need a special apparatus equipped with a ceramic cutter for removing gel polish. With the help of the device, you can quickly remove the coating and the varnish itself rather quickly. Be careful with the base - it is better not to touch it, otherwise there is a risk of damaging the nail. This procedure takes much less time and effort than previous methods.

Method number 4: Steamer
A steamer is a special device that helps dissolve the gel coating of nails in 10 minutes. To carry out the procedure, you will need: liquid for removing gel polish, a nail file and a buff for polishing nails. 5 ml of nail polish remover is poured into the steamer. While it is warming up, you remove the top coat from the nail plates with a buff and put your hands in the device. After 10 minutes, use a file to remove the remaining gel coat. To complete the process of removing the gel polish, go over the nails again with a buff.
After removing the gel polish, do not forget to take care of your nails. To do this, the perfect nail restoration product (regenerating nail polish), which is often referred to as "smart enamel". These products do not contain harmful components, for example, toluene or formaldehyde. Their task is to restore the nail plate and cuticle. Such products not only nourish and restore nails, but also make them visually more beautiful.
Apply "smart enamel" follows a specific algorithm, so be sure to read the instructions before using. Some products need to be applied every 7-10 days, removed and reapplied. Others are applied one coat each day. After a week, the protective coating is removed and the procedure is repeated. In fact, even experts advise from time to time to take a break from gel manicure and engage in nail restoration (read also: "6 products for nail restoration and strengthening").

In conclusion, it will not be superfluous to remind you that regular washing and the use of antiseptics harm both the skin of the hands and nails, so do not forget to regularly use hand cream and periodically do masks. After applying them, wear cotton gloves and go to bed. Such procedures perfectly restore not only the skin of the hands, but also have a beneficial effect on the condition of the nails and cuticles.
