Honey Skin: The Easy Way To Achieve A Healthy Glow

It's no secret that most beauty trends originate in South Korea, and this year honey skin has become the most popular beauty trend from Asia. What is its essence and how to follow it - we figured out together with top make-up artist, beauty expert Malvina Magomedova.

How did it come about?

This trend emerged shortly before glass skins, so it's no surprise they have a lot in common. However, unlike glass skin, "honey" skin implies not only "polish" and translucency, but also a radiant honey shine, which gives the skin its characteristic velvety and softness. It is considered a great compliment for girls in South Korea if the skin is compared to sticky bee nectar. However, despite the similarities in trends, in South Korea, the trend for "honey" leather has become more popular than its predecessor.

What it is?

By "honey" skin, it is customary to mean flawless, moist skin, deeply saturated with nutrients. In addition to the set of honey skin effects, glass skin also aims to release inner radiance (see also: “glass” skin: what you need to know about the main Korean beauty trend).

Korean women achieve the desired "honey" effect with the help of a certain set of care rituals: by applying moisturizers and brightening agents - so that the face is elastic, moist and soft to the touch. It is believed that if you manage to achieve a "honey" effect, then "glassy" skin will turn out for one or two - you just need to use a moisturizer with a more shiny effect.

It is worth noting that the long-lasting effect of "honey" skin can be achieved only with the help of peeling, as keratinized skin cells create roughness, which can nullify all efforts to create a soft velvety texture. Priority should be given to chemical peeling, as mechanical peels are less effective at removing dead cells. In addition, because of it, unpleasant microdamages on the skin can appear.

The next step in creating a "honey" effect is the use of specialized tonics to cleanse the skin, and then a potent moisturizer is applied to the skin (most often serum is used).

A honey-like effect is achieved through the use of emollient creams and oils that provide the skin with long-lasting hydration and a radiant honey-like sheen. You can also use products that include natural brighteners, as well as rice and fermented yeast to give your skin a honey-like effect.

How to achieve the effect of honey skin with makeup?

First you need to prepare your skin with a peel or scrub. They will help to cleanse the skin, remove dead cells and smooth its surface. After this step, the application of other products will be much smoother and more even.
Use a light fluid or serum to moisturize your skin well after cleansing.

On top of the base, apply a thin layer of foundation (of the appropriate shade) with a light texture. It is best to use a foundation with a satin finish - it will give the desired moisturizing effect, and thanks to its light texture that will hide all skin imperfections, including dark circles under the eyes and redness, it will give the skin a well-groomed, "sleek" look.
