Therefore, a "beachy" scent does not have to smell like the ocean, tropical flowers and tanned skin. Soon the higher powers will give us the go-ahead and there will be a wide range of beaches in life. Someone will rush headlong to their beloved Phuket - feast on mangoes and douse themselves in coconut oil, and someone to Northumberland to breathe deeply the air soaked through with fog and sea salt.
Salt, as it turned out, gives a complete taste not only to food, but also to perfumery aromas. Givaudan perfumer Linda Song says she adds depth to fruity, floral and citrus notes and, when handled correctly, sends a signal to the brain with the scent to immediately imagine the sea, sun, sand and happiness. We will now deal with such tricks!
Northumberland is the most remote and sparsely populated county in all of England. In these parts, not even all the British have been, which is why the wild beaches are deserted and this makes them even more beautiful. Perfumer Christine Nagel voluntarily imprisoned herself here for a couple of weeks to admire the views, smell the air and touch the pebbles. She conveyed the essence so accurately that there was no place for a single floral note in the fragrance!
From the "vegetable" there is only sage grass, desperately making its way through the dense fog, drizzle, salt spray and damp wood. Calvi Beach in Corsica looks like a postcard from a souvenir shop - so beautiful that the soul freezes. The air is a little salty, a little sweet, smells like pine needles and whipped cream. I would like to find a secluded place, spread a blanket and doze off to the rustle of waves - now turquoise, now emerald. And then again splash to goose bumps and wade back to the villa barefoot.
