Today it seems that Caroline de Maigret was always famous. And so it was, but for a rather narrow circle of people keen on fashion. However, the real world fame came to her after the release of the book “How to feel like a Parisian, whoever you are. Love, style and way of life”. The reason for our meeting was the make-up collection made by Caroline for the famous French beauty brand.

Parisienne is me

Morning. First arrondissement of Paris. Carolyn meets me in the interview room and gives me a friendly hand. She is wearing a white shirt, wide black trousers and quite “man's” boots. It was this style that became her trademark and made the star of streetstyle blogs. Tall, naughty bangs, incredible smile - everything in her seems familiar to the smallest detail thanks to the numerous gossip columns and reports.

“I'm 100 percent French,” says Carolyn in a husky, enveloping voice. - My style reflects this fully. Spacious blouses and all kinds of shirts, baggy trousers, voluminous coats, rough boots, and sometimes elegant dresses - this is what really suits me, in which I feel comfortable and remain myself, and not what trends dictate. In makeup, I try to adhere to the same principle: naturalness, naturalness, invisibility of effort and delicacy of colors. You know, here it is considered bad form here to be too brightly painted, to demonstrate your plasticity and too complex styling. Everyone will immediately decide that something is wrong with you. That is why, creating my first collection of cosmetics, I chose what I love myself and what I really use every day."

Basic beauty wardrobe

“Since a real Frenchwoman is a minimum of makeup on her face and slightly disheveled hair (keep in mind, this is a must!), I tried to bring together the essentials in order to look good, but still be myself. My collection is like a basic wardrobe for every day: if you want, string anything on it later. Each tool can be easily used by any woman - blonde, brunette, brown-eyed, blue-eyed … Friends asked if I was afraid to be boring with such classic shades. So, I'm not afraid! Because it is they who look not just bright, but expressive and at the same time quite sexy. They are more chic. When I was looking for my own style, I thought a lot about how, using cosmetics, to remain myself, and not turn into another person. Lancome autumn collection just allows you to be neat with your personality.

There is a funny palette that looks like a notebook. It is convenient and elegant: you can safely adjust your makeup “in public”, and it will not shock anyone. The palette contains not only shadows, but also pink cream blush, giving the face a pleasant freshness. I adore them and sometimes apply not only on the cheekbones, but also on the lips and even on the eyelids. But my main pride is … a large mirror that allows me not to writhe in agony, trying to make up eyelashes and apply shadows. It's so nice to be free! So consider the comfortable mirror as my personal contribution to the cause of feminism.

In addition, the collection includes eyeliner and lip liner, nail polish, lipstick, lip balm and, of course, mascara. I have it very unusual - deep burgundy color. I use black only in the evening, for going out, and during the day I prefer the shade of "burgundy". It softens dark eyes and avoids facial shadows. In my opinion, this is a small revolution."

French mythology

“If I had to debunk one popular myth about French women, I would frankly tell the world:“Yes, we also go on diets. And we also care about how to lose weight. " True, unlike others, we keep this problem to ourselves, and do not shout about it to the whole world. Why is it necessary to talk about it so much? This is not interesting to anyone. Movies - yes, books - yes, children - of course, but the fact that you chew oats or drink juices is a personal and even intimate matter. It is considered bad form in our country to discuss this with anyone other than your dietitian. If a Parisian goes to a restaurant, then no matter what food system she adheres to, there is nothing to give her due to good cuisine and no one will interfere. She will not sit with a sour face and pick at a plate with a fork. Yes, the next day at home she will most likely have to refrain from something or even starve, but this will forever remain her little secret. That is why everyone around is sure that "French women do not get fat and do not lose weight", in fact, they just choose the right topics for conversation!"
