Lipstick can add age to you if your shade and texture are poorly matched. Alas, what is perfect at 20 can be a bad idea at 40. The opposite is also true. About how to correctly and elegantly combine lipstick and age, we asked the leading makeup artist of Chanel in Russia Ernest Muntaniol.
What shades of lipstick are suitable for young girls, and with which you should not rush?

Absolutely all colors and textures of lipsticks and glosses will suit a young beautiful face. That is why, in fact, all fashionable makeup trends are demonstrated precisely on young girls. Nuances are only in the individual structure of the lips. For example, with thin lips, matte textures and dark lipstick colors should be avoided, as they visually make the lips even thinner, while satin textures (and best of all, even gloss) will give the lips the necessary volume. Do not forget that it is at a young age that active experiments begin with the colors and textures of lipsticks, and with makeup in general. And this is good, because only in this way can you clearly understand by the age of 30 what suits your appearance best.

How should the relationship between a woman and lipstick change with age? What, to whom and when to choose?
By the age of 30, searches and experiments with color usually end: preference is given to comfortable moisturizing textures. Gloss fades into the background, luxurious lipstick colors (such as reds and burgundy), framed by a flawless contour, take the lead. Nude lipstick shades are still paired with active eye makeup, but there is more pink pigment in them than before.

By the age of 40, more attention should be paid to those colors that contain red pigment, that is, a color that simulates a rush of blood to the lips (these are all shades of red, burgundy and pink). With shades of nude and orange, friendship should be nullified, as they no longer “refresh” the face. Matte, glossy textures remain, but shimmery glitters go away. We can say that in most cases they already look out of place. Now, even with light shades of lipstick (see also: "Why do brands need their own fragrances and lipsticks"), the lips should be framed with a contour - this will add stylistic completeness to the makeup.

By the age of 50, light lipstick shades are no longer a good choice. Only those colors that carry vital energy should remain in the beauty arsenal - that is, those that add youth and brightness to the face: red and wine pigments. It is also better to put off dark lipsticks and matte textures, as the lips begin to lose their natural volume and any "darkening" will visually worsen the situation. So at this age, the most relevant can be called glossy (classic) and semi-matte textures (the most popular because of the abundance of nourishing and caring components).

What shades of lipstick make you look older and what, on the contrary, make your face look younger?
At a young age, heavy, deep dark shades of lipsticks (burgundy, cherry, red-brown), especially in a matte texture and with a clear outline, definitely do not count in your favor. In general, the contour, that is, the ideally created outline of the lips, always adds at least 5-8 years at a young age. The only exception to this rule is red lipstick, which always lives by special laws.

In age-related makeup, light beige shades no longer work, do not refresh the face and, as a result, add years. The same applies to very dark shades, which make the makeup heavier, depriving it of its lightness and freshness. Favorite shades from orange or light pink pearlescent gamut over time also begin to look foreign: they do not age, but they also do not add freshness to the face.
