What is microneedling
In another way, microneedling is also called mesoscooter therapy. The procedure got its name from the tool with which it is carried out - the mesoscooter, a device that resembles a paint roller covered with small needles. Microneedling is mostly an anti-aging procedure aimed at renewing skin cells and activating their potential. However, the procedure can also be used to treat acne and other non-aging skin problems. You can carry out the procedure both independently at home and in the office of a dermatologist or cosmetologist with the help of specialists.

The essence of the procedure lies in the fact that with the help of a mesoscooter micro punctures are created on the skin, thanks to which the cells of the epidermis get more benefit from cosmetics carefully applied to the face.
It turns out that the stimulation of cells occurs in two ways at once: mechanical (piercing with needles) and chemical (exposure to cosmetics).
How microneedling works
Small needles of the mesoscooter gently pierce the upper layers of the epidermis, leaving invisible holes in them, through which biologically active substances from the funds applied to the skin penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin. The main advantage of microneedling is that it allows cosmetics to penetrate where they normally cannot. As a result, the effect of, for example, anti-aging products becomes more pronounced, since thanks to micro-punctures the active substances manage to get to the root cause of the problem.

In addition to the fact that the procedure is aimed at enhancing the effect of skin care products, "piercing" in itself brings considerable benefits to the skin. The needles are capable of destroying small stagnant capillaries and skin seals, stimulating blood renewal, improving metabolism and skin color.
Important! Since the punctures are incredibly small, they heal literally within a few hours after the procedure. It is also worth noting that microneedling should not be very painful, the procedure is not pleasant, but not so much as to cause attacks of panic and fear. If it seems to you that the pain is unbearable, most likely you are using a low-quality mesoscooter.
How microneedling is performed
The procedure consists of several stages, which are repeated regardless of whether you carry out the procedure yourself or are in the beautician's office.
- First, the skin is thoroughly cleaned of impurities and disinfected. In some cases, after cleansing, pain relievers are applied to the skin, but this is an optional step.
- Next, an active serum is applied to the prepared skin and begins to massage with a roller, gently pressing on the device, but so that the needles can pierce the upper layers of the epidermis. Don't be intimidated by the appearance of blood droplets on the skin, this is a natural process that indicates that the needles have passed through the top layer of the skin.
- Later, the skin is again treated with a disinfectant.
On average, the duration of therapy is from two to three months a year (1-2 times a week), depending on the task. The procedure itself lasts no more than 15 minutes.
