Despite the fact that we are constantly trying to figure out "what is what" in a fairly numerous family of means for dealing with sweat, this knowledge evaporates with incredible speed (if only it happened with unpleasant odors). As a result, we face the same sacramental question with enviable regularity: what are “deodorants” and what are “antiperspirants”?
Decide on goals
If you need to get rid of an unpleasant odor, then buy deodorants. They contain aromatic substances that are only engaged in neutralizing this very smell. In the case when it is necessary to prevent the appearance of sweat, in principle, only antiperspirants will provide real help. They clog the pores, thus blocking the possibility of perspiration. Long travels, sports training, intense excitement - all these are reasons to purchase antiperspirants.
Take a shower

All antiperspirant products in the evening (or when they are not urgently needed) must be washed off. And wash off thoroughly! Keep in mind that antiperspirant can “block” for more than two days. They have a fairly high concentration of aluminum and zinc salts, which in certain quantities disrupt natural sweat exchange, and this, in turn, can lead to inflammation of the sweat glands. And in general, if you really have to choose between aluminum and zinc, choose zinc - it is less harmful to the skin.
Read labels
It's understandable with aluminum and zinc (remember, choose zinc), but that's not all you need to check in the list of ingredients. It is best to choose products that do not contain antibacterial ingredients such as farnesol and triclosan, as they can lead to skin irritation and dehydration. And in general, if you are prone to allergies, you should not risk it again. No one has canceled the usual talcum powder or even baby powder, which perfectly absorb liquid, although, of course, they are not so convenient to use.
Pay attention to the "shape"

The content seems to have been sorted out. Now, a few comments on the look. The safest are spray deodorants because the concentration of chemicals is kept to a minimum. But it’s not that simple. Their action is extremely short-lived: as a rule, the stock is enough for only a couple of hours. Roll-on deodorants are more durable, but they have a fairly high alcohol content. Even if you see the inscription "0% alcohol", this is usually an indication that pure alcohol has been replaced with stearyl, which also does not exclude the appearance of irritations. As for the sticks, they do not behave in the best way in the heat: they melt and leave marks on clothes.
Everything has its time
Deodorants can be applied several times a day. All you need is to keep your underarms clean and dry. The main thing is not to do this on the beach, otherwise there is a risk of the appearance of age spots (and rather big). But antiperspirants are best applied, as they say, "strongly in advance", before active sweating is expected.
