Often we sit in the hairdresser's chair with the hope of a magical transformation and leave it completely disappointed. In order for the result to exactly meet expectations, you need to prepare for a dialogue with the master - even if he is “yours” for five years. Stylist Zhenya Zhuk, at the request of Marie Claire, has deciphered for you the most common hairdressing terms related to haircuts and styling.
Bean
The hair hit of the 20s is a short haircut with a length above the chin and clear, pronounced lines. Hair is cut at an angle with a lengthening in front. The classic version of the bob assumes bangs and a fluffy crown. The modern bob has many varieties: "torn", elongated, with asymmetry. The standard of stylish wearing of this hairstyle in our time is Victoria Beckham.

Braids
They are Afro-braids: very small pigtails or thin braids braided with a pattern. They can be done with a variety of kanekalon (artificial hair), ribbons or laces. Braids are now very popular, as well as their variety - zizi. These are very, very thin artificial braids of different shapes, which are already woven into the hair. Alas, if you do not have a drop of African blood in you, it is better not to do this ─ you are tortured to shoot.

Booby-kopf
The hairstyle, which appeared in the early 20s of the XX century through the efforts of German hairdressers (hence the name - translated from German "small head") became the first truly short women's haircut in history. Bubi-kopf is often called just a "boy's" haircut. But it has a peculiarity - with the help of hot tongs, the hair is styled in the correct waves and fixed with styling that ensures smoothness and shine. Today, bubi kopf is not very popular and is rather a nod to retro style.

Garson
A classic "boy-like" haircut, which is often called "French haircut" (from French garçon - boy). It has practically no contraindications and is suitable for many, especially those with thin hair, because due to the lack of length it perfectly hides the lack of density and volume. Garson is ideal for athletic and slender young ladies, but can just as well decorate independent and business ladies. The most striking example of "garcon" is the hairstyle of the legendary Coco Chanel.

Gavroche
A type of haircut "for a boy", made according to a special technology - with the lengthening of the strands to the back of the head. The hair in general is cut short enough, and only on the back of the head the length is preserved. The ends, if desired, can be profiled (an obligatory technique on thick coarse hair - excess volume should not spoil the overall silhouette of the hairstyle!). Stylish haircut, which, nevertheless, with the unprofessionalism of the stylist, can easily take you back to the 90s - be careful with strong thinning ("feathers" have long been in the past) and too airy volume.

Graduation
This is a haircut method that implies that each successive strand should be shorter or longer than the previous one. The most striking example of graduation is the "cascade". Afraid to get confused? Just remember that the “ladder” on the hair, known since kindergarten times, is the graduation.

Carving
This is a type of perm - artificially styling hair into a curl for a long time. Carving is a gentle method of curling, during which the hair is divided into separate strands, covered with a fixing agent and wrapped in curlers. The preparations used in carving are relatively weak: they do not penetrate deep into the hair, so the lifespan of curly curls is shorter than with a standard curl (4-8 weeks). A definite plus at the same time that the curls look more natural and lively, and not "chemical" curls.

Square
The oldest haircut in the world (the Egyptian beauty Cleopatra, apparently, wore a square). By now, it has acquired so many varieties that it sometimes drowns in seas of "beans" and "shags". The bob can be asymmetrical, with lengthening in any direction, "on a leg" or graduated, but the meaning is always the same - the overall silhouette of the haircut (as opposed to the shag) has the correct clear lines.

Creative haircut
Ideally, it is a "collection" of several classic haircuts. Creatively - this is, for example, when the back of the head is cut using the bob technique, and the crown is processed using slicing. A creative haircut is a completely original product. The stylist-hairdresser must imagine how the client's hair will look best, taking into account their characteristics (length, thickness, density, color) and how the hairstyle can successfully highlight the facial features, and translate it into reality. At present, the term "creative haircut" has become a common noun pr-technique, often devoid of real meaning.

Slicing
This is a "sliding" method of haircut, when scissors with a smooth cut, remove hair strand by strand. Visually, the process is very similar to how a plane handles wood. Slicing creates the effect of torn hair. It is recommended to combine it with thinning in order to make the cut "soft" and the contour of the hairstyle - lightness.

Filing
Cutting not the entire mass of hair, but their parts - in other words, thinning - to create a slight "smoky" effect. It can be performed both at the ends and at the roots for different purposes. With the help of thinning, the master lightens the hairstyle by removing excess hair density, forms a neat smooth edge and / or gives the edging original lines, adds volume where necessary.

Blunting
It is a bouffant, but not simple, but "with a secret": if the classic bouffant involves pulling the hair along the entire strand, then blunting is a bouffant of half a strand, when the strand is emphasized from the inside, and the top remains intact. Dulling is a “half flop” that is done in order to add volume to the hair, but maintain a more natural look.

Shag
Shag is a hymn to natural negligence - the most disheveled haircut known. It is similar in shape to a square. As a rule, the shag has an average length and thick bangs that fall over the eyes. Loose hair should be slightly curled (shag is ideal for those who naturally curl curls!). The main thing in the shag is volume, which looks so natural and harmonious, as if you forgot to comb your hair in the morning after a large evening portion of styling.
