Once upon a time patriarchy reigned in perfumery, and daring women who dared to enter male territory could be counted on the fingers of one hand. One of them was Sonya Constant. The colleagues were bribed by the way the girl skillfully maneuvered between art and craft, equally brilliantly performing tasks of both commercial and selective companies. The portfolio includes iconic fragrances for Lanvin, Tom Ford, Avon, Guerlain, Narciso Rodriguez and many others. Years passed, making a name and filling her hand, Sonya felt that she was able to do something special. Not by order, but by mood. Moreover, she had accumulated enough material, and the idea was literally in the air - in the one in which the plane soared when she and her husband were returning from a trip.
In 2018, she launched her brand EllK and presented seven fragrances at once. She was not the first or the last to seek inspiration while traveling, but Sonya's collection turned out to be very personal and passionate. Florence or Pushkar, her always loving husband is nearby, to whom she writes letters. Each EllK scent is an experienced emotion in perfume notes plus a love letter for her husband from that trip.
Reflet sur L'Okavango appeared after a trip to southern Africa, to Botswana. The Okavango River flows there and the Kalahari Desert roasts under the sun, wild animals live and outlandish flowers grow. Love is love, but Sonya also works. She is accompanied on every journey by the Scent Trek®, equipped with sensitive sensors to detect and collect the volatile scent molecules around the plant. This technology is a unique example of respect for nature. The device does not encroach on the flowering process and codes its aroma to be recreated in the olfactory pyramid without extraction.
In Paris, she brought samples of the aromas of shepherd's wood, papyrus, mopane and marula. And also a letter and a vivid memory when they saw their reflection in the water surface, framed by blooming acacia. The result is deep, multi-layered and calm, moderately hot, moderately humid. The case when even a sepia photo can evoke a bouquet of feelings.
