
I have been working in international companies for eighteen years of my working office career. And like any normal manager, I have aggravations about the worthlessness of life in artificial lighting and "meeting rooms", when somewhere outside the window there are the beaches of Bali and the peaks of Elbrus. But exacerbations pass, especially when I replace the abstract paradise in Bali with a very real jogging for 10 kilometers, after which many unnecessary questions and desires go away by themselves.
In October 2017 I want to run my first marathon - 42 km. Literally on the other side of the world, in Chicago. I will fly from Sydney, where I work now, and I have no other motivation other than to finish in some not very shameful time. About fifty thousand people will run with me, and I think the majority of what is happening will also be in this cherished "Run!" The difference is only in time goals - someone needs to fit in two and a half hours, while someone is cool to run in six. Running in this respect is very similar to life.
From the side of the runners, we can say that we are all crazy people who are "killed" for some reason.
I will not speak for others, I will say about myself. I tried to start running even in high school (for a completely predictable reason - to lose weight). All my attempts ended with two or three wakes at 7 am and a miserable jog - no more than twenty minutes from home to the Moskva River canal. But about three years ago, I went back to trying to run.

В тот год мы с семьей снимали дачу в живописном поселке Подмосковья, дорога вокруг была хорошо освещена, воздух - сказочный. Айфон с зажигательной музыкой и даже чип в кроссовках для измерения дистанции - все было круто, но хватало меня максимум на 3 километра. Как бегать и не задыхаться, понять я не могла. После Новогодних каникул я решила пойти учиться бегать в Iloverunning. Эти ребята знают, как привлекать новых учеников - они «влюбляют» в бег. Меня лично манили забеги вдоль озере Гарда или в Бордо вдоль виноградников. Под руководством опытного тренера через месяц тренировок (3 раза в неделю) оказалось, что бегать на дистанции больше 3 км можно, просто надо это делать медленно и следить за пульсом. Первые 7 километров без перерыва - это был мой «разрыв шаблона». А дальше пошло – поехало: Вена 16 км (прихрамывая, но с Аперолем в финишной зоне), мой любимый Лиссабон и ппервый полумарафон – 21 км: последние 10 минут бега мне хотелось просто лечь на мостовую и не забирать медаль, но финиш состоялся. Невозможно жаркая Камбоджа с храмами в джунглях, кругами перед глазами из-за обезвоживания и «убитого» телефона, который не выдержал повешенной влажности моего тела (девушки, никогда не бегайте с телефоном в бюстгальтере, это удобно, но вы рискуете!). Дальше больше – Тель-Авив, Киев, Москва, Коломна, Зеленоград, Москва и Сингапур - везде по полумарафону. Мне нравится планировать путешествия и жизнь вокруг забегов и тренировок, бросать это дело я не собираюсь, по крайней мере, до марафона в Чикаго.

What does running give? Firstly, this is dynamic meditation for me - especially after the first 5 kilometers, the stress of the working day goes away, my head becomes enlightened, I feel positive.
I don't want to switch to scientific language and write about hormones, but I guarantee that if you run in the target heart rate zone for more than half an hour, the so-called runner's high will please you very much. Secondly, running taught me to read body signals more accurately. When you run a half marathon, after the 15th kilometer, the overcoming stage begins, and in order to run, you need to listen to the body, and not follow the lead of the brain: pain is relative, tension is relative, fatigue is relative - just keep running. On the long races, I clearly realized that there are no physical barriers to the body. Thanks to running, I became more stable and stronger in controlling my own feelings and emotions, the number of “brain-eating cockroaches” has significantly diminished - when you move long and hard, there are difficult to articulate answers. Take my word for it, at the moment when you run a half marathon,you have time to look at a lot from the side or from a different angle.
