As you know, Donald and Melania Trump refused to attend the inauguration ceremony of Joe Biden. Instead, the couple said goodbye to their closest associates at Andrews Base and flew to Florida, where their famous Mar-o-Lago estate is located. While the new president was swearing allegiance to the state, the Trumps seemed to be in a hurry to end this chapter of their lives and move on to the next.
Many observers noted that the couple left Washington in all black. Donald was wearing a black suit and coat of the same color, as well as his trademark red tie. Melania left the White House in a total black outfit, settling on Chanel and Dolce & Gabban - this was a huge contrast to the new First Lady Jill Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, who appeared that day in the clothes of American designers.

New York Times fashion director Vanessa Friedman noted that Mrs. Trump's outfit was the most appropriate end to her first lady career as she chose her “favorite brands” without feeling the need to support local designers. It is also worth recalling that many American designers like Christian Siriano, Zach Posen and Marc Jacobs simply refused to dress Donald Trump's wife, declaring her boycott at the very beginning of her husband's presidency.

Then an unexpected transformation took place with Melania. During the flight, she managed to change her outfit and appeared before the public in a completely different form than in Washington. The former first lady was wearing a Gucci dress worth $ 3,700. There was only one thing in common with the previous outfit: the European origin of the brand. Bold geometric print, perfect color balance and a more relaxed semi-fitted cut hinted: now she is not the first lady, but the wife of a billionaire, not constrained by government obligations. The move from the cold capital to South Florida with its special flavor also affected.

Mrs. Trump's fans did not fail to rejoice for her: finally, Melania can enjoy the freedom that she so lacked when she was the first lady. During the flight, she even managed to change pointed stilettos for flat shoes. Only Melania's hairstyle remained unchanged, the dark glasses, with which she almost never parted, were never gone, but only replaced by a different model (read also: Why Melania Trump always wears sunglasses (and even at night)). Apparently, despite the changes in status, Mrs. Trump still does not intend to become more open towards the public.
